Advantages of FTL (full truck load) transportation

FTL transportation is used when it is necessary to deliver large consignments of goods from one customer by a separate vehicle. Full truck load is the most common method of delivery due to the following issues:

• Minimum delivery time – an individual truck route is determined; the optimal work and rest schedule for driver is prepared so that the vehicle goes with minimal loss of time; there are no delays on other loadings.
• Safety – the goods are transported according to the door-to-door scheme, so unauthorized persons do not come into contact with the cargo.
• Сonvenience – if necessary, a customer can change the place of unloading or add another one. This type of delivery is optimal due to time and cost efficiency.

FTL VEHICLES TYPES (FULL TRUCK LOAD):

Usually, FTL delivery is ordered for large quantities of goods, when the truck can be loaded for full volume or weight. When ordering FTL transportation take into consideration the following vehicle types:

• Standard semi-trailer: cargo volume up to 92 cubic meters, cargo weight up to 23 tons. This type of trucks is widely used because its versality.
• Large-sized semitrailer (mega): cargo volume 100-105 cubic meters, cargo weight up to 23 tons. Recommended for transportation of light, large-volume cargo. For example: equipment in packaging, wooden pallets, diapers, construction insulation materials.
• Tandem (a truck with 2 cargo compartments): cargo volume 110-120 cubic meters, cargo weight up to 23 tons. Just like a large-sized semitrailer, it is suitable for transporting light but large-volume goods.
• Refrigerated vehicles: cargo volume up to 90 cubic meters, cargo weight up to 22 tons. Recommended for transporting food and industrial goods requiring a special temperature regime, medicines, flowers. They are also used for the transport of high-value goods. The metal truck body provides additional protection against break-in. Please note, that due to refrigeration equipment, refrigerators can carry slightly less cargo than standard semi-trailer. The refrigerator freight cost is 15-20% higher than a standard truck cost – due to the cost of refrigerator equipment service.
• Tanks and tank containers: volume from 24 to 48 cubic meters, cargo weight up to 23 tons. This is a special vehicle for the transportation of liquid food cargo, chemical safe and dangerous goods.
• Low-tonnage trucks: cargo weight from 1 to 7 tons. Recommended for transportation of small consignments of goods. Most light vehicles for international transportation are buses with a metal body, so they are ideal for transporting cosmetics and perfumery.
