CROSS-DOCKING IN EUROPE
Cross-docking or cross-transit is a method of direct transportation of goods to a consignee without involving a warehouse storage procedure. Such transportation will be ideal for the following categories of goods:
- which require urgent delivery;
- in high demand;
- food products that have strict shelf life limits.
Alongside, cross-docking can be applied to any other cargo category.
There are several options for using this logistic operation:
- Transfer of products from a truck that delivers goods across the territory of the European Union to a vehicle that will transport it to Ukraine, to its final destination. It is fulfilled in one of the terminals in Europe, mainly in Poland.
- Transportation of goods from various shippers. Cross-transit allows to consolidate goods from several suppliers into one batch, which will be sent to one consignee. Small consignments are brought to the terminal, where they are loaded onto a truck.
- Retail distribution of a large consignment. The method is similar to the previous one, but in this case a large batch in terminals is divided into smaller ones and sent to the final consignees.
